Hi i am starting this blog to share my experience with others and share their experiences.
I remember my first day as a salesman. I was out in the street just like a new salesman, full of enthusiasm and confidence in his product, But what was i selling?
The question bothered me too :) because i was out there to sell an intangible thing which was never heard of by most of the people i visited. I was selling small scale enterprise resource planning systems to people running or owning small manufacturing units, People who thought a whip for the labours would be a better tool to increase productivity.
Soon like most new salesman i learnt that the world is not such a friendly place when you are a salesman :)
Soon i started blaming my company and the product for my non performance.
I was angry and frustrated because i was living in new york on my own, in a small shabby apartment.
My dad was an old rail-road employee who was going to retire in a few years, Here he was in his late fifties working hard on the rail-road, and here i was not able to sell a thing, and living on the money my dad sent me every month.
I was working on comission basis and the company never gave any expenses whatsoever, i travelled in local buses with my own money as i did not have the money to buy a car(or even a bicycle).............. rest in the next post
